5 New Netflix teen series in the works if you’re missing ‘13 Reasons Why’…

These shows are coming to tide you over until
13 Reasons’ season 3.

After the success of seasons 1 & 2, Netflix announced back in June that ‘13 Reasons Why’ would be getting a third season. And while that’s great news for fans, it’s not so great that we have to wait until sometime in 2019 to find out what comes next for Clay and the other students at Liberty High. But fear not, ‘13 Reasons’ fans, because today I’m gonna break down 5 other teen Netflix dramas that will bridge the gap and make the wait much more tolerable.

First, the highly anticipated ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ series is coming to the streaming service on October 26th. The show is a MUCH darker take on the ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ story, and is executive produced by the ‘Riverdale’ producers, so we know it’s gonna be an instant hint. Based on the trailer, ‘Chilling Adventures’ looks like Riverdale meets The Vampire Diaries meets The Craft, so it’s basically screaming “binge-watch me”.

I have a feeling ‘Sabrina’ might also be a very popular last minute Halloween costume this year.

Another dark supernatural series coming to Netflix is ‘Chambers.’ The psychological thriller tells the story of QUOTE, “a young heart attack survivor who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are sinister.” Uma Thurman and Scandal’s Tony Goldwyn play the parents of the young heart donor, so based on that news alone we know the acting is gonna be outstanding.

Another show on Netflix’s slate is ‘Locke & Key.’ Details about the comic-book based show have been kept tightly under wraps, according to the comics, the story focuses on QUOTE, “three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Massachusetts only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.” That definitely sounds like one to watch with the lights on.

One show that’s sure to bring a little less horror and a few more laughs to Netflix next year is ‘Sex Education’. The mother-and-son comedy-drama tells the story of QUOTE, “A socially awkward high school virgin who lives with his sex therapist mother. He teams up with ‘whip-smart bad-girl’ Maeve to set up a clinic to deal with their fellow students’ weird and wonderful problems.” Not sure if I’ve ever described any of my problems as a teenager as “wonderful”, so consider me intrigued.

And finally, if Katherine Langford was one of your favorite reasons to watch ‘13 Reasons’, then you’ll be thrilled to hear the young Aussie actress is currently working on another new Netflix show. Last week Katherine revealed that she’ll be starring in ‘Cursed’, a series based on a book of the same name that’s described as QUOTE, “a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.”

I’m getting major Lord of the Rings and Reign vibes from that description, and we are HERE for it.

Alright guys now I wanna know your thoughts — which of these upcoming series are you most excited for, and what other kinds of teen shows and movies do you wanna see Netflix come out with? Let me know in the comments below!
