These last few years, pretty much everything Rihanna has touched has turned to gold. She has been all work, work, work, work, work, work. And as if she doesn’t already have an impressive enough resume, she can now add a Fashion Award nomination to that list. What’s up? Earlier this year, Forbes named RiRi The World’s Richest Female Musician and reported that her net worth is about $600 million.And on a real note, Rihanna’s time away from music has given her the space to shift the fashion and beauty industries in so many positive ways.Her makeup brand Fenty beauty has set a new standard in the makeup world with over 50 shades to match customer’s skin tones. With her lingerie line Savage X Fenty she has challenged toxic and outdated narratives surrounding women’s bodies and lingerie fashion shows.In her incredible Savage X Fenty Amazon Prime fashion show that premiered last month, Rihanna showcased fashion, music, dance, diversity, and inclusivity.And we all know the Victoria Secret Fashion Show isn’t happening this year and the former CEO who trashed female bodies that weren’t the ideal fantasy… stepped down as well. It’s clear thi is likely due to the backlash the brand has faced year after year for not using trans or plus size models.But Rihanna had the complete opposite approach when it came to selling her lingerie.In the special, while reviewing potential models for the show, Rihanna made it VERY clear that diversity and inclusivity were key, saying that quote “every woman deserves to feel sexy.”With this brand she also broke historical boundaries as the first black woman in history to head up a major luxury fashion house under LVMH.And if you haven’t seen her Fenty brand yet, you have to get on it. It’s famous for its power suits, sleek eyewear, and cute mini-dresses and I honestly want everything in this collection.So it’s no surprise after all of these achievements, Rihanna has just been nominated for her first ever fashion award.
Her Fenty brand has been nominated in the Urban Luxe category of the 2019 British Fashion Awards.RiRi will be going up against going up against other big name brands in the industry like Martine Rose and Moncler Genius.And this nomination is no small feat. Rihanna’s Fenty brand was hand picked by 2,500 industry members.And while Rihanna is no stranger to winning awards, I mean she DOES have nine Grammys Awards, twelve Billboard Awards, and thirteen American Music Awards, if Fenty wins it could be a career-changing moment for RiRi going forward in the world of fashion.This is a HUGE event. I mean, last year, Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance at the event to present her wedding dress designer, Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller, with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year Award.
So I’m sure Rihanna will be in great company this year.
And I just want Rihanna to rule the fashion industry so I’m really hoping for a win. But we will have to wait until December 2nd when the actual award ceremony takes place to know if she wins. And regardless of if she wins this award, her fans are standing by her side and are just excited to see what she’s going to do next. And also, we’d be ok with some new music at any point, but no rushAnd Rihanna’s fans are extremely proud of this accomplishment for her.They are flooding Twitter with love for their queen. And on top of all of RiRi’s other accomplishments and projects, she’s managed to have time to put out a book this week too.And her visual autobiography Rihanna, by Rihanna officially came out on October 24 and it’s already huge.Literally huge I mean, the book weighs 15 pounds, stands over 16 inches tall, has 504 pages, and more than 1,000 photos.But something it doesn’t have a lot of is words, sounds like my kind of book.Aside from brief captions and headings, there are actually no words at all, not even an intro or sign off.
